MIKROLATEST Piperacillin-Tazobactam MIC-Strips
EUCAST & Piperacillin-Tazobactam M.I.C.
EUCAST have issued warnings about unreliable results with two brands of gradient tests. Reports of problems were followed up at the EUCAST development Laboratory in Sweden using both type stains and and strains with resistance mechanisms.
Compared to results from broth microdilution some values were two dilutions too high and others were too low. There was also considerable variation between batches from the same manufacturer. The warning about piperacillin-tazobactam gradient tests was first issued in January 2016 and repeated in July 2018.
EUCAST state they have no reason not to trust the disk diffusion (30+6 µg disk) results but currently state thatt disk diffusion results cannot be confirmed with a gradient test.
MIKROLATEST Piperacillin-Tazobactam MIC-Strip
Based on the same methodology as the widely used MIKROLATEST Colistin MIC-Strip and Vancomycin-Teicoplanin MIC-Strip, the MIKROLATEST Piperacillin-Tazobactam MIC-Strip product is simple to use, requires no specialist equipment and can be read by eye.
MIKROLATEST's broth microdilution pipracillin-tazobactam MIC strips conform to ISO20776-1:2006. The strips come in packs of 3 plates, each plate has 12 removable strips of 8 wells, giving each pack 36tests.
Storage & Shelf life
These products are vacuum-dried and stable at room temperature for 24 months from date of manufacture.. Each plates is individually sleeved, once a sleeve is opened the individual strips should be used within 2 months.
