Match WHO guidelines with a quantitative LFA to improve diagnostic feedback
same day TAT in-house – improved clinical guidance - a simple single test product - economical

The WHO published guidelines in June 2022 under the heading ‘Guidelines for diagnosing, preventing and managing cryptococcal disease among adults, adolescents and children living with HIV’.
This article includes guidance on the optimal approach for diagnosis, screening and prevention.
Early diagnosis and treatment of cryptococcal meningitis is key to reducing mortality from cryptococcal disease. Rapid screening for cryptococcal antigen followed by pre-emptive antifungal therapy among cryptococcal antigen–positive people is recommended before ART.
Following the guidelines requires on-site Cryptococcal Antigen LFA

Value of Quantitative Results
As serum or plasma Cryptococcus antigen levels rise the probability of CSF involvement increases.
High Cryptococcus antigen levels indicate near-universal central nervous system (CNS) involvement .
Increasing, or persistently high Cryptococcus antigen levels might herald therapeutic failure or relapse and might be useful to distinguish immune reconstitution from persistent cryptococcal infection.
Cryptococcus antigen titer is predictive of meningitis and death and could be used .. to customize therapy according to burden of infection. ref 1

FungiXpert Cryptococcus Antigen Quantitative LFA
Rapid TAT Simple to use No need to batch test
Over the past ten years, standard diagnostics for cryptococcal meningitis in HIV-infected persons have evolved from culture to India ink to detection of cryptococcal antigen (CRAG), with the recent development of point-of-care lateral flow assays.ref1

The FungiXpert Cryptococcus Antigen LFA has been compared with the IMMY product. It has been shown to detect all the types of Cryptococcus detected by IMMY. ref2 It has also been shown to match the sensitivity of IMMY and outperform IMMY for specificity ref3
The FungiXpert Cryptococcus Antigen LFA can be made fully quantitative when used with its pre-programmed reader.

Our Lateral Flow Reader
The Genobio Lateral Flow Reader for use with the FungiXpert Cryptococcal Antigen Lateral Flow assays, is pre-programmed for quantitatively reading FungiXpert fungal biomarker LFAs.
A standard curve, linking titre to LFA reading, is eastablished for each production batch. This data is carried on the barcode of each cassette and utilised by the LFA reader to interpret readings from the test line.
Result data is displayed, stored and can be transmitted. Batch to Batch variation of standard curves is minimal allowing interpretation of readings from varying batches to be constant.
