What is it? |
E. vermicularis is a small parasitic nematode of man popularly known as oxyurium or pinworm.
It causes the intestinal disease known as oxiuriasis or enterobiasis. The diagnosis in the laboratory of the presence of pinworms is made by the recovery of the eggs of the perianal area by using the Graham Test and its subsequent microscopic identification. Samples should be collected for 3 consecutive days to be representative. |
