Enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) are of particular importance among the intestinal pathogenic E. coli.
Between 01 January 2014 and 31 December 2021, 834 human isolates were sequenced at the UK Health Security Agency.
​The clinical symptoms caused by EHEC range from mild diarrhea to severe gastroenteritis to hemorrhagic colitis, which occurs in approximately 10 to 20% of infections. ​

This study shows that eazyplex® EHEC is a very fast and easy to perform molecular assay that provides reliable results as a culture confirmation assay for the diagnosis of STEC and Shigella spp./EIEC infections.
