Diagnostic Kits

Simplified and easy-to-use testing
Rosco Diagnostica acknowledges the increasing need for detection of resistance mechanisms. In order to supply our customers/users with a convenient system for detection, rapid colorimetric and assembled kits with disc diffusion tablets are available. The kits are complete with ready-to-use cartridges of the necessary combined Neo-Sensitabs™ or Diatabs™ and a guide to their use.

WHY PHENOTYPIC METHODS?
Phenotypic methods are useful for detection of beta-lactamases. They are cheap and easy to perform and interpret. Molecular techniques, on the contrary, are expensive, require significant expertise and do not identify novel and emerging resistance genes or even slightly structurally modified genes.
BETA – LACTAMASES
Rapid Colorimetric Kits (15 min-1 hour)
98022 – Rapid ESBL Screen kit:  ESBLs
98023 – Rapid BLUE CARB Kit: Carbapenemases
98024 – Neo-Rapid CARB Kit: Carbapenemases

Rosco Diagnostica Rapid colorimetric Kits have the following advantages compared to competitors:
  • More rapid results
  • No reagent preparation needed
  • Longer shelf-life
  • Stable crystalline imipenem
  • Simple and fast procedure 5 min/test
  • Reduced amounts of lysis buffer or no lysis buffer
  • Lower cost
  • Detect new genes (compared to PCR)

Why Rosco Neo-Sensitabs?
Why are most Neo-Sensitabs stable at room temperature?
Unlike paper discs we use the dry crystalline antimicrobial which is compacted into tablets.

ASM MIcrobe - Stable Antibiotic Sensitivity Disks
DOI: https://doi.org/10.1128/AAC.9.5.848
ABSTRACT 'Two methods of preparing sensitivity disks were compared for their effect on disk stability at 25 and 37 C. One method consisted of applying a solution of the antibiotic to blank disks by the conventional procedure; the second method consisted of applying the antibiotic to the disks as a suspension of crystals. Of the four β-lactam antibiotics that were studied, disks made with suspended crystals were substantially more stable than corresponding disks made by the conventional method.'
Does stability mean better results?

A multi centre evaluation in UK hospitals showed good comparison between paper discs and Rosco tablets with 'stable' antibiotics but significantly better results obtained with Rosco tablets when the antibiotic was less stable (co-amoxyclav).
